IMWAYR-03/07/2017

I had a decent reading week- and by decent I mean I finished two books. Not a great reading week, but hey- at least I finished a few books right?

I finished reading, and uploaded my review of "Secret Sisters" by Joy Callaway. I absolutely loved this historical fiction about the formation of the first sorority. This was my first DRC (ever)!

I also finished reading "See you in the Cosmos" by Jack Cheng. I haven't reviewed this one yet, and unfortunately I have a lot of reviews to get through before I get to it. Maybe I'll just bump it up on my list because I really enjoyed this one as well!

I'm currently reading my second DRC, "The Readymade Thief" by Augustus Rose. It's an interesting concept, but I haven't made a lot of progress yet.
Hopefully you guys made more reading progress this week than I did. I'm afraid I'm still seven books behind on my reading challenge- and I only have a few more days of summer left to catch up!

  1. Looks like a very decent reading week to me! Reading challenges can be a bit of a bummer and don't fit into our actual lives and where they take us.

    1. That's true- we set out on reading challenges full of ambition, but I think a yearly challenge is too long for me. Next year I might pick up monthly challenges that will help me contribute to the annual challenge.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week Kathryn!

  3. Every book read is one less to read! That's my motto when the tbr numbers look overwhelming! Life always gets in the way of reading...!

  6. A decent reading week for me lately is just finishing one book! Ha ha. I've had no free time lately! I lowered my reading challenge to 80 books this year from 100 and I'm STILL 3 behind. *sigh* Oh well..... Maybe I'll have a really, really good month soon and catch up. :)

Hope you had a great week!

The Hero, by Rabindranath Tagore

The narrative poem" The Hero" was written by Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore. Set in a young boy's imaginations this narrative has all the necessary elements and is rich in imagery. The characters, plot, setting, theme, climax and idea are all very clearly outlined.  The setting of the poem falls within the boy's imagination. It is described to have 'spiky grass' and a 'narrow broken path'. It is also mentioned that the country is 'strange and dangerous'. The rurality of the setting is further accentuated when Tagore talks of the 'cattle' and 'wide fields'.

One by Shawnee Kellie

The poem "One" by Shawnee Kellie is a very interesting and thought-provoking piece of writing. The poem spreads the message that it is not only a large group of people that can make a change, but one idea, one thought, one human that can help make the world a better place.

Coromandel Fishers by Sarojini Naidu

Hello! For this post I will be exploring another poem written by Sarojini Naidu, called "Coromandel Fishers". This poem can be taken as an allegory, for although it speaks to fishermen, it's metaphoric value speaks to the nation, and can be considered a wakening call for the people of our country. When I wrote about "In the Bazaars of Hyderabad", I mentioned that Sarojini Naidu was one of our freedom fighters, and believed greatly in the Swadeshi movement. Naidu reflects her passion for India in this poem.
