Saturday Snapshot- Animals of the Amazon

Hey everyone! It's Saturday- and unless you're new around here- you should know the drill. It's time for another Saturday Snapshot*! Last week, I shared the last of my pictures about my trip to Chile with you, and so I'm back with pictures about a trip to Amazon Rainforest that we took in 2007. You guessed it! It's a mini-series here on my blog. Because this trip was so long ago, I didn't have that many pictures to choose from. I think this will be the shortest series on my blog yet- only two posts! *Saturday Snapshot is a meme hosted by westmetromommyreads.com  These pictures were all taken by my dad, and are all about wildlife that we encountered in the rain forest. These aren't even half of the animals we saw. Apart from these we saw a jaguar, went to a butterfly farm, had a scary encounter with a tarantula and met some excited spider monkeys. This little guy thought our breakfast table was the perfect place for a snack.

Seed

Unfurl, the red awaits, Like a rose,  Learning to bloom again Yet so does the wisdom, Patiently, it will come After the rose has bloomed, The flame is gone Shattered, The glass seems to break The petals all fall of, Yet this appearance. No one seems to recognize It is mesmerizing, How often one sees, That the sins of the senile Were not sins but seeds Seeds, for the future, That would pave a path away From the sorrowful hearts, That ail our burdened home Remember, the seeds are in you Recognize you are naught but a seed Naught but a sapling yet to grow A Sapling that would do well, To conform with a different tree And a different seed -Poem Fanatic

The Bishop's Girl by Rebecca Burns

Publication Date: September 18th 2016 Genre: Historical Fiction My Goodreads Rating: 4/5 Source:  Own Copy For a while now, I've been undecided about my favourite genre. This book, however, helped me realize that Historical Fictions are the books I love to read the most. "The Bishop's Girl" by Rebecca Burns is an intricately woven story that deals with identity and identification, love and romance, jobs and family life, and most of all, discovery.  Jess is a certified archivist who works at the Shacklock Library. Under a strict, work-absorbed professor, she researches the unidentified body of a young woman who was buried with the famous Bishop Shacklock sometime in the First World War.   Struggling to find anything of relevance that hasn't been reviewed in her last six years at the library, she stumbles upon a document that could possibly change history. She leaves town, and her family, for a weekend to investigate a hunch, and in doing so, meets a

Dream of Conflict

Silky, the air feels, Glowing white, With embers of a dying smoke The embers of normality Flowing, the air shifts A Slight Breeze Emerges Rocking the Clouds to Sleep Coarse, the air has changed Radiating purples so harsh With a trapped wind, A wind of callouses  Furious, the hand emerges Playing with strings  Oh the wind is now a storm The air shall no longer be pure, The dream is torn apart The normality no longer normal, The soul of conflict, Has blown this heart -Poem Fanatic

IMWAYR- 23/01/17

Hey Everyone! I'm back with another weekly book update, hosted by unleashingreaders.com and teachmentortexts.com . This week, I finished reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, by Ransom Riggs. I quite enjoyed the book, primarily because it's something so different from what I usually read. I also finished reading "After the Funeral" by Agatha Christie. I'm currently reading "The Sun is Also a Star" and I'm really enjoying it so far!

Saturday Snapshot-Jalcomulco, Veracruz

Hello-it's time for another Saturday Snapshot*! Before I dive into another mini-series, I have some pictures to show you of a trip to Jalcomulco (in Veracruz, Mexico). I only had three pictures to show you, so I thought I'd show them to you now, and then next week I'll be back with a mini-series! *This meme is hosted by westmetromommyreads.com

Death Demands Beauty

Beauty in your wilted, Drooping decline Precious such as, the Realization of Death, Creeps into your subconscious Colour in your withered, Frail petals, hidden From view of the keen observer  But Demanding the attention Of an interesting bloom Life in your falling, Shriveled stem, that Glows with a decisive interest In Ending your Days -Poem Fanatic

Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein

Publication Date: January 1st 2013 Genre: Middle-Grade My Goodreads Rating: 3/5 Source: Borrowed Hey everyone! Late last year, I read "Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library" by Chris Grabenstein as a pick-me-up book. I needed something quick and refreshing, interesting and humorous, just to remind myself what got me into reading in the first place. So today, I'll be reviewing this Middle-Grade book.

Horizon

Crest the shore in sadness, Froth in the purest of all, Behind the movement, A storm awaits Crack in the dark murk. Rejuvenate in the light, Ahead of the change, A Descent awaits Blend into one another, Mark the transition however Create a little tension, Create a beautiful scene -Poem Fanatic

Saturday Snapshot- Ice and Caves in Chile

Welcome back to another Saturday Snapshot* post! I have yet another set of pictures to share with you from my trip to Chile in 2008. I hope you enjoy these pictures my dad took of natural formations! *This meme is hosted by westmetromommyreads.com A massive block of ice (glacier I guess?)

Attachments by Rainbow Rowell

Publication Date: April 14th 2011 Genre: Young Adult, Romance My Goodreads Rating: 3/5 Source:  Own Copy I finished reading "Attachments" by Rainbow Rowell last month, and although I wasn't quite sure if I should review it, I've decided to do so now. I don't have many reviews where I present negative views, but they might help some of you make your decision about trying out the book. After all, what I don't enjoy may be exactly what you do. So let's get to it, shall we? (we shall...)

My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga

Publication Date: February 10th 2015 Genre: Young-Adult My Goodreads Rating: 4/5 Source: Borrowed Hey guys! I'm back with another book review. This is a book I read last year, called "My Heart and Other Black Holes". A friend convinced me to read it, and I'm glad she did. I've never read a novel quite like it, and while the writing wasn't ostentatious or exceptionally brilliant, it was a book I'll never forget.  Aysel is obsessed with planning her own suicide. She has survived an unfortunate scandal involving her father, been moved across town to live with her mother- who can barely stand to look at her- and her step-family, been considered a loner in school, and found an interesting passion for physics.  She works at a call-center, just to stay away from the house, and while she's there she stumbles upon a suicide partner's website. It's on that website that she finds Frozen Robot, her soon to be suicide partner.

The Drop

The sky turns into a blur, As the wind thrusts him headfirst, Into a distorted landscape, That he lays parallel to His heart hastens to survive, His mind is whirring What seems like an aeon Ends in the blink of an eye With a jerk he rises, Bolts out of bed, To ensure that the wind, Was a contraption of his head -Poem Fanatic
