Hey Guys! I'm back with another reading update! I actually managed to read a lot more than I thought I would this past week, which is why I'm back sharing with you.

I finished reading "The Good Earth" by Pearl S Buck. I was slightly hesitant going into this classic, because it was the unabridged version and seemed quite slow. Surprisingly, I found that even though the book was based in China and written by an American, there was no prejudice in the book.
I also finished reading "A Good Yarn" by Debbie Macomber, the second book in the Blossom Street Series. It revolves around knitting and the bonds that it can help to create. I was pleasantly surprised by the introduction of three new main characters.
I am currently reading "Attachments" by Rainbow Rowell. I'm not quite sure whether or not I like this book- not a good sign!- but Rowell is a good author, so I'm going to finish the book anyway. It's written through email correspondences, which is a new concept for me.
I just started reading "I'll Give You The Sun" by Jandy Nelson. I don't have much to say about the book yet, but I know that it's been a big hit this year, and I'm very excited to dive into it.
Well, that's all for now folks! If you missed out on my posts last week, you can catch them here:
- The Soldier by Rupert Brooke
- A Meaning Never Unearthed
- Bear an Idiosyncrasy

I loved I'll Give You the Sun. Looking forward to seeing your review next week.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I might not be able to finish the book next week. I've decided not to use my Kindle until the cover arrives, because I don't want to scratch it up. I'm hoping for a timely delivery but.....
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
I'm curious about I'll Give You the Sun. It's in my TBR pile at home. I look forward to your review when it comes.

I've found Rowell to be hit or miss for me. I adored Fangirl, but nothing else works as well. I won't tell you how long ago it was that I read The Good Earth, but I remember being impressed. I might go back and reread it now that I am much older!
ReplyDeleteI've felt the same way about the Rowell books so far. I'm not really loving Attachments. I don't suppose it helps that Fangirl was the first book of hers that I read, and in doing so set an unconscious standard that all her other books have failed to meet.
DeleteI'll give you the sun is definitely one of my great reads from last year. :)
