Saturday Snapshot- Santiago

Hey everyone, and welcome to the last Saturday Snapshot of the year!!! I'm going to start a new mini-series on my blog within Saturday Snapshot. This time, I'll be sharing pictures from a family trip to Chile way back in 2008. All credits for the pictures go to my dad for these pictures! *This meme is hosted by westemetromommyreads.com Today I'll be showing you some pictures of Santiago and the towns of Patagonia. Next week, I'll share pictures of the wildlife we encountered in Patagonia. A view of Santiago

IMWAYR- 26/12/2016

Hey guys- it's time for the final reading update of 2016!* I didn't get much reading done this week, but I really don't want to miss out on the last memes of the year... *This meme is co-hosted by unleashingreaders.com and teachmentortexts.com

Saturday Snapshot- Acapulco

Hey Everyone! I'm back with another Saturday Snapshot*! This week I'll be sharing with you a few pictures from a trip my family and I took to Acapulco (Mexico) way back in 2008. *This meme is hosted by westmetromommyreads.com

The Shop on Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber

The next book in the series Publication Date: April 27th 2003 Genre: Realistic Fiction My Goodreads Rating: 4/5 Source:  Own Copy I initially stumbled upon this book while surfing through my Goodreads Recommendations. I'm quite glad that I decided to pick it up, because while it's not one of my favorites, it's an arguably light read and an interesting perspective on friendship.  Lydia Hoffman, a cancer survivor and ardent knitter, decides to "affirm her life" by opening a knitting shop. Knitting and her father were the two main things that helped her get through her bout of cancer, and now that her father was gone, she had decided to set up her life as a knitter. A Good Yarn would be home to knitting classes and exquisite yarns that she'd love to use herself. To her sister though, this idea seemed incomprehensible.

Winds Down the Streets

Winding down the streets, A Young Girl,  Unruffled by the Breeze, Untroubled by her speed, Undeterred by the size of the lane. Undisturbed by the color, Of her bike or her hair, Unperturbed by the stains, On her shoes or her shirt, A Young Girl,  Winds Down the Streets.

IMWAYR- 19/12/2016

It's time for the final few reading updates of 2016! IMWAYR (Kid lit version) is a meme hosted by unleashingreaders.com and teachmentortexts.com . Today I'll be sharing with you the progress I've made on my Goodreads Challenge as well as the reading I've managed to finish this week. I had planned on reading 100 books this year. Unfortunately, it seems like that won't be a possibility. I'm currently reading my 90th book, so I'm hoping to finish 95 books this year. It's a little bit disappointing to finish five books away from my goal, but my goal is still ten books more than what I read last year, and progress is what counts, right?

Saturday Snapshot- Henna at an Indian Wedding

Hey Guys! It's time for another Saturday Snapshot*! Last Week, I got to attend a wedding in Kolkatta (India), and participate in all the traditional customs. One of those customs involves applying Mehndi, or Henna to all the girls hands. This week, I'm sharing some pictures of the ceremony with you. *This meme is hosted by westmetromommyreads.com  Applying the Mehndi

Would you?

Would you dare To get closer To a being that's dead That's alive in spirit But dark in it's head? Would you mind Getting nearer A Person that's changed That's the same in spirit But different in their head? Would you feel fine Walking slowly With a stranger you just met That's similar in spirit But random in your head? -Poem Fanatic

IMWAYR- 12/12/2016

Hey Guys! I'm back with another reading update! I actually managed to read a lot more than I thought I would this past week, which is why I'm back sharing with you. This meme is co-hosted by unleashingreaders.com and teachmentortexts.com  I finished reading " The Good Earth" by Pearl S Buck. I was slightly hesitant going into this classic, because it was the unabridged version and seemed quite slow. Surprisingly, I found that even though the book was based in China and written by an American, there was no prejudice in the book.

The Soldier by Rupert Brooke

"The Soldier" by Rupert Brooke is a testimony to the love and pride men felt towards their nation, before the First World War. "Under an English Heaven" is the most prominent line in the poem, that truly brings out the theme of patriotism and nationalism.  Brooke does not fill his poem with extravagant images or ostentatious depictions, rather, he uses simple words to express his profound love for his nation. The words that he uses, such as "laughter, learnt of friends" give way to reminiscences of fond memories, allowing the reader to delve into their own mind and evaluate the greatness of their country.

Bear an Idiosyncrasy

An Idiosyncrasy, You'll find in me A slip of the tongue, A Breath of the lung                                                                    An Idiosyncrasy, If you would please, To Bear in your soul My sweet tongue roll                                                                     An Idiosyncrasy, You'll find in me An Idiosyncrasy, That's me -Poem Fanatic ...

Natural Creation

Where the natural, Melts into the creation, Molded by the hands of an era, Propelled by the minds of a generation  Where the memories of a past, Blend into relaxation Guided by the feet anew, Blessed by the hearts of a generation Where the waters, Churn into an activity, Assisted by the yearning of an era, Continued by the hearts,  Of a Generation  -Poem Fanatic
